About AJ
AJ Mannion M.S. L. Ac. has been teaching dance since 2010, and is widely known for his compassionate and energetic teaching style, visually stimulating choreography, and anatomically precise technique. He has happily served as a master teacher and adjudicator for DECAdance Dance Competition since their first season. He takes his deep knowledge in the healing arts and dance to help dancers bring finesse to their technique, voice to their inner creative spirit, and calm self-awareness to their physical, emotional, and mental faculties. AJ's experience as a healer includes currently working as a Licensed Acupuncturist, a certified Reiki Master and Bodyworker using his additional experience in traditional massage therapy, Craniosacral therapy and Tui-Na (Chinese medical massage). He is also an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Master's Degree program for Acupuncture where he teaches Tui-Na, Chinese medical theory and more. AJ has taught classes, judged competitions and led workshops around the country for dancers and teachers alike, specializing in acrobatic dance and ballet technique with a focus on energetic awareness and anatomy-based training. He received his M.S. in Acupuncture, postgraduate certification in Chinese Medical Herbalism, BFA in Dance from Montclair State University, multi-module training with Acrobatic Arts and has additional experience in yoga and contortion.
AJ is a certified Reiki Master in the styles of Holy Fire® III Usui Reiki, Animal Reiki and Karuna Reiki®, and is dedicated to sharing the limitless joy, healing, and peace that Reiki offers to all who seek healing. Along with Reiki, AJ is also certified in VortexHealing® Energy Healing, and gratefully incorporates elements of this powerful modality into his healing work. AJ graduated from Cortiva Institute for Massage Therapy in 2010, and currently offers bodywork as part of his acupuncture sessions. AJ uses his skills as a licensed acupuncturist and his extensive knowledge of anatomy and musculoskeletal pathologies to more deeply assist his healing clients and dance students in gaining mastery within their bodies and minds.
